The Pharcyde – Passin’ Me By (+ remixes)

This brings back some memories: a witty and catchy song about being ignored by your crush – I must have watched this video hundreds of times as an angst-ridden, hormone-fuelled teenager. I can still recite every line without thinking about it. But the reason I’m indulging in a moment of nostalgia is because Hot Chip have remixed it almost beyond recognition, reminding me in turn of another remix of the song where the group re-deliver each other’s rhymes to a cocktail jazz backing.  Both remixes posted below.

Song of the Day: Koushik – Lying in the Sun

Koushik – Lying in the Sun

Another song of the day, another hazy sense of summer to brighten up what has otherwise been a very dull day outside. Koushik Ghosh is an electronic music producer from Ontario – the same neck of the woods as Caribou, who he has worked with and, on this occasion, sounds quite similar to! Koushik’s new J. DIlla/Phil Spector-influenced album Out My Window will be released in September on Stone’s Throw records.
