Jaymay – ‘Grey or Blue’ Live on Conan
Although she’s been knocking around NY for a few years now, it certainly seems Jaymay has been making inroads in the last six months, mostly due to the warm reception her album Autumn Fallin’ has received. She first came to my attention with a live track called ‘You Are the Only One I Love’, which was good enough for me to immediately buy her Sea Green, See Blue EP, which featured several of the tracks that would later appear on the album. I don’t think the studio version really captures the same feeling of that live take – in fact, it may not even be available anymore – so I have dug it up for your listening pleasure…

Black Mountain performing ‘Stormy High’ on Conan O’Brien. I’ve given their album In The Future a few listens now and I’ve yet to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe I’m just not getting, but this all seems too similar to the tired recycling of Sabbath/Zep/Purple riffs that bands like Wolfmother have been ponying about.
So this is where I implore you, the lovely people out there, to chime in: I want you to sell it to me. Let me hear what you’re hearing. Convince me to persist with Black Mountain and maybe, just maybe I’ll be on the hype bandgwagon in no time… (more…)
