A while back, I posted (and featured in a mix CD) the lead single from French Kick’s new album Swimming but it’s an album I keep coming back to and now that the end of year is nearing, it’s hovering about, contending for a spot in my top 10 albums of 2008. The record sustains a singular aesthetic without being repetitive: just warm harmonies and a cosy atmosphere, perfect for some winter time listening. (more…)
I’ve never heard of “modded pop” before, but if it’s typified by the flitting, lo-fi production and soaring melodies on display here, I’ll be doing my best to find more.
French Kicks are a NY-based garage-pop-indie band who have been going for 10 years strong. Following repeated line-up changes, the band have recently released their fourth album, Swimming which can be streamed over at their MySpace. (more…)
