Inspired by an interview with Will Oldham, SeeWhatYouHear.com began in 2004 as an independent music guide that praised good music subjectively and from a buyer’s point of view, hoping to take the gamble out of shelling obscene amounts of money for a new CD.
The website then served as a portfolio of sorts for a year or so until I began to write professionally for various magazines and websites. Though the older posts make me grimace now, I’ve decided to keep them for posterity’s sake, as they do chart a certain progression that’s led me to where I am today.
In 2007, SeeWhatYouHear.com switched to a blog format, as the typical less-is-more layout means fewer hours spent on in-depth and often laborious analysis in favour of a “look what I found” approach that seems to suit both reader and writer alike.
