Dawn Landes – Bodyguard
Determined not to be just another hush-toned folktress to grace an already overcrowded Americana scene, Dawn Landes is a young, Kentucky-raised recording engineer who has already won a handful of serious plaudits for her second album, the recently released Fireproof (Cooking Vinyl/Fargo Records) and has appeared alongside the likes of Andrew Bird, Jose Gonzalez and Feist.
I’ve chosen this track for the way it positively wafts along towards my favourite time of the week, the tail-end of a Saturday afternoon: conjuring up images of dusk, dimmed lighting, smoke, seduction, hypnosis, and the passage towards day break.
